Gene & Georgetti continues support of non-profit, Surge For Water

It is our honor to be able to extend support to deserving non-profits locally and around the world. Surge for Water is an organization that we’ve helped in the past (you can read about that here and here) and we’re excited to continue collaborating with them! Most recently, our partnership has sponsored their menstrual health program:

Indonesia: They’ve trained 1,024 girls year-to-date, and Gene & Georgetti helped fund 5 of these trainings, impacting 143 girls in 3 schools and 1 community.
Uganda: This year they’ve trained 3,957 girls year-to-date,, and Gene & Georgetti helped fund 1 of these trainings, impacting 58 women and girls in 1 community.

We asked Surge for Water to provide a bit of information about who they are and what they do, and this is what they shared:

What is the mission of Surge for Water?

Surge for Water is a women-led, community-driven nonprofit organization that delivers safe water, sanitation, hygiene, and menstrual health solutions to underserved global communities. Our work across 4 countries includes building wells, rainwater harvesters, filtration systems, and toilets as well as delivering education programs on hygiene, soap making, menstrual health, and pad making. Globally, billions of people lack access to these basic human needs. Surge’s work drives improvements in education, health, income, and overall well-being — building stronger and healthier communities.

What does a partnership like ours allow your organization to continue to do?

This long-term partnership with Gene & Georgetti helps Surge achieve its mission and goals. Via direct funding, Gene & Georgetti has supported the rehabilitation of 2 broken wells in Uganda impacting over 1,600 people, and has helped us deliver our Menstrual Health program to hundreds of girls in Uganda and Indonesia.

In addition to this direct support of our programmatic work, Gene & Georgetti also sponsors our annual Chicago gala — monetarily and in-kind via their amazing chef’s table. Through this invaluable support, they have helped us raise significant funds and awareness from the Chicago community. These funds go on to deliver more of Surge’s essential programs impacting tens of thousands of people globally!

What are some of your big goals moving into 2024, and how can people get involved?

While Surge is growing, we still have a lot more work to do in the rural communities where we work — Haiti, Indonesia, Philippines, and Uganda. We’re committed to impacting more people with holistic safe water, sanitation, hygiene, and menstrual health solutions. We’re also looking at expansion into new communities within the countries we work in.
