Chicago Tribune : Don’t-miss restaurants to try this summer

By Phil Vettel, May 26, 2015, 1:52pm

It’s time once again for my Summer Eating List. Patterned after the summer reading lists that haunted my school days, this list tells you the recently opened, soon-to-open and hoping-to-open restaurants to keep in mind for a summer of dining enrichment. I’ve broken the list into categories: Required Eating (restaurants you must not ignore), Electives (optional destinations you ought to consider), Extra Credit (offbeat choice, and a few major restaurants that may not open until summer departs) and Field Trips (driving required; permission slips optional). Restaurants are listed along with their projected opening dates — which, as any follower of Chicago restaurants knows, are subject to change.

FIELD TRIPS
Gene & Georgetti. No, not the grand steakhouse at Illinois and Franklin Streets; it’s the new G&G, opening in the Rosewood Restaurant space in Rosemont. Gene and Georgetti also purchased the Rosewood’s sprawling special-event facility, rechristening it The EstateOpening July 22. 9421 W. Higgins Road; no phone yet
