From the North to the South Side, these are the 25 Most Iconic Dishes in Chicago. Street fare, including sandwiches, make up most of the city’s classic cuisine, but the landscape continues to evolve as menu items from a variety of new restaurants appear.



Broiled T-Bone Steak: Chicago’s meat-packing history gives the city a variety of upscale steakhouse options. The steak at Gene & Georgetti’s is wet aged for about 30 days. There’s nothing fancy about the presentation; the meat’s without seasoning, even salt and pepper, then broiled. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
