Chicago’s oldest steakhouse, Gene & Georgetti in River North, celebrates its 70th anniversary Thursday, July 14, through Saturday, July 16, with three days of throwback menus at 1941 prices — lunch or dinner with two cocktails for just $15.25
per person. Entree choices consist of 12-ounce striplion steak, 8-ounce filet mignon, center-cut pork chop, chicken Vesuvio, broiled whitefish or mostaccioli or spaghetti with meat sauce.

The prix-fixe menu will be served from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and 1940s-style entertainment begins nightly at 6 p.m. Reservations are required: call between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Proceeds partly benefit Common Threads, Standing Tall and St.Vincent DePaul Center.

Gene Michelotti and his partner, Alfredo “Georgetti” Federighi, founded their namesake steakhouse in 1941, and it’s still run by Michelotti’s daughter, Marion, and her husband, Tony Durpetti, now with help from their daughter, Michelle.
