Chicago Now: Mid July, Mark Your Calendar
One friend says her father felt as though summer was over after the 4th of July. I disagree. But as the month progresses, I do feel an increasing need to enjoy everything summer has to offer, beginning with the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables that make summer so special.

In a business where longevity is sometimes measured in months rather than years, Gene & Georgetti (500 N. Franklin 312.527.3718)is celebrating its 75th anniversary. The downtown restaurant will celebrate by offering a special 75th Anniversary Menu for Two for $75 (for two, not including tax and gratuity) from Thursday, July 21 to Saturday, July 23. No other menu will be available. All of the proceeds from this menu will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which honored Gene & Georgetti with the Chicago Classic Award at the 2015 Jean Banchet Awards.
